11 April 2020

Another super Group 1 day and we have more competitive fields, some super quality and what looks to be a drying track. The rail is out 4 mtrs which I suspect plays pretty fair, ideally I think on pace and or rails in run best spots.

R1 Looks a race in two, #1 POSTCODE ($2.80) comes off nice win last week carrying big weight and savaged the line, like the 7 day back up and looks to get soft lead and complete control on home track, #2 UNTAMED ($2.40) the obvious, nice run and placing last start reads well for this, I couldn’t touch it at the price. If I was to bet in the race I’d be with POSTCODE to roll along in front and be hard to run down.
#1 from #2

R2

Randwick  R2 #1 YAO DASH x 4 units Win $4.00

Is the class runner here and we get a price due to few questions over last run, was well backed first up had excuses due to being galloped on and returning with cut on hind leg, since given short break then testing 1200mtr trial 13 days ago (lead and won in good quality), last prep beat Funstar running a Group 1 number then beaten only 1.5L behind Bivouac and Yes Yes Yes, those formlines are very strong for this, from low gate should lead and get control

R3 Tricky and competitive Provincial Championships with again form coming from all directions, and I didn’t like the race at all. I had them in order #4 ANIMATE, #1 McCORMAC, #10 ASHARANI, #2 THROUGH THE CRACKS, while #12 ELECTRIC GIRL likely gets a soft run on speed and can be included in final tris and first4’s.
#4 from #1, #10, #12

R4 #2 AWAY GAME ($3.40) looks almost bomb proof and but for the fact that she has been up and running since November I could nearly make her a bet, she is so consistent and runs big numbers and time, blew them away at the Gold Coast, was 4 and 5 wide the trip in the Blue Diamond and then chased hard behind a very good colt last start in the Slipper. #1 DAME GISELLE ($5.00) has a nice win two stars ago while #5 SWATS TIME ($9.50) ran some smart closing sectionals in its only start/win.
#2 from #5, #1

R5 If the real or best of #1 COSMIC FORCE ($3.50) turns up then he wins, he has had credible excuses but he has also been hard to catch as a winner, sent out as fav in a Group 1 last start, drew wide, was wide in run and well beaten by the 250mtr mark, since given 850mtr trial with Winkers on and won/ran well, does look to get the right map and sit here and McDonald rides – lots of ticks but I want to see a confident win again before stepping in, #4 DAWN PASSAGE ($9.00) was very good first up, didn’t see clear running till late and then chased hard running the best overall sectionals of the race, has tricky gate and expect in drops back early but race does look to have strong early tempo and so could suit her powerful finish.
#4 each way

R6 We have two formlines converge here and all depends which way you want to line them up. On the 7 day back up from last weeks Group 3 we have #4 COLETTE ($3.30) the lightly raced but on big upward spiral Godolphin filly who has smashed them at each of her last two runs, she does look to get the right tempo and map to suit here and for a staying type she has a cracking turn of foot and can run some very smart closing sectionals, for mine she’s the one to beat. #1 PROABEEL ($4.00) and # SHOUT THE BAR ($4.80) are the two obvious formlines out of the Group 1 Vinery, with the likely drier conditions I lean to the NZ filly PROABEEL, she has had 3 runs in Group 1 company for a win and two seconds, was strong through the line in her latest run (on ground that she is not at her best), expect her to be very hard to beat while SHOUT THE BAR looks to get a roll along up front and a lightly raced Waterhouse stayer can always keep improving. I’ve been with COLETTE for some months now, this is the big test but I love her turn of foot and storming finish.
#4 from #1, #2

R7

Randwick  R7 #2 YOUNG RASCAL x 5 units Win $2.50 BB

Looks the stand out quality stayer on the up here, lightly raced with what looks plenty of upside he ran a super number in his warm up win few weeks ago and suggest he should only improve further into this, think the race tempo will be fair to average being a two mile staying race which as the likely best stayer should only suit further, maps to get lovely sit and expect he’s the one lengthening away up the rise, with what appears some media push around want to take the price now, looks the best of the day

R8

Randwick  R8 #1 DANON PREMIUM x 5 units Win $3.90 BB

Japanese visitor for a tilt at this rich Group 1, he’s had 7 starts and 5 wins in Group quality in Japan with 4 wins at G1 and G2 including a very credible win over Lys Gracieux on what ended up a damp track, he’s also run 2nd at his last two starts in G1 level to superstars Almond Eye and Indy Champ – all formlines that read exceptionally strong for this and he has run numbers / ratings in these runs well superior to this field, all reports are that he has settled in well and his work over the last 10 days has been super, if he turns up with anything near his best and even luck then he looks the winner

R9 Group 1 Fillies and Mares at WFA very tricky race where anything could win. #1 ALIZEE ($13.00) won this race last year on the same campaign set up and back on drier ground dropping 5kg in field strength has to be very competitive; #9 POSITIVE PEACE ($10.00) just keeps smashing through her grades winning last 5 straight inc latest Group 2 at this distance; #13 AMANGIRI ($17.00) comes out of the same race and a credible third, should be better suited this track and map; #5 SWEET DEAL ($17.00) looks well suited fourth up for this stable; #2 NETTOYER ($9.00) slashing win last week but big question at WFA with 57kg – its a the race that has a very long tail.
Interest bet: #1 ALIZEE ew $13.00

R10

Randwick  R10 #7 FASIKA x 4 units Win $4.40

Fillies and Mares set weights Group 2, think she’s the best horse in the race who can go on to a Group 1 win, kicked their heads in first up dominating from the front running some really smart figures then trainer now admits he made mistake altering his original plan for this prep and going to the Group 1 Galaxy (Rosehill) where he drew wide and went back (when she is normally a very positive go forward runner), hampered at the home turn and when finally clear (and wide) was very strong to the line (side by side with Group 1 colt Pierata), that is her second start in similar company, now drops to her own sex and much weaker grade, draws wide but can roll forward at this track with long straight run to only the one turn, with even luck she it the one kicking as they straighten

All the best, enjoy the day.
