West Coast v Richmond

A rare Friday night home game for the Eagles offers these teams the chance for a late season consolation victory. As we have seen in recent weeks, retirement announcements can galvanise a team with Brisbane and St Kilda both recording stirring victories after club legends called time. West Coast get the opportunity to do likewise here. Both teams have been good long term under bets with the Eagles a 10-3 under team at night over 2012-14 and the Tigers are 24-12 under team in all games over the same period. West Coast have gone under the total match score line set for this game in 10 of their 16 games this season including the last three games straight. Richmond have gone under the same line in 8 of their 16 games. Key stats point to the under and if the Eagles are fired up to win it for Dean Cox, a hard fought clash at ground level may result. The market agrees with the line moving from 174.5 on Monday into 172.5 with most bookies.

Broncos v Storm

Well well well, what a week it was in Bronco land!! After negotiating terms with the Warriors 2 months ago (but not consummating the deal), then all but at the alter with the the Dragons through recent weeks Bennett pulls the rug from under just about everyone and signs a 12th hour deal with the Broncos pushing Griffin out the door (who’s papers had already been stamped for a yr end exit)!! So how do the Broncs players manage all of this, the obvious guess is they are now auditioning  for their new future and aim up, time will tell, there is also talk of respect (and guilt) for the sacked coach and a new pact of commitment, some months too late.

Broncs were a mixed offering last week, they were there to be beaten and were so at least twice through the contest yet were able to pick themselves up under difficult circumstances (late outs and key outs) and win. Barba is still a passenger, Hoffman and Hodges hot and cold, they don’t dent you up front, had some issues of quality off their bench the major positive being Copley who is a potential superstar!!

Storm have an imposing longer term record over the Broncos, they’ve won the last 6 straight, 13 of the last 15 H2H and 6 of the last 7 at the ground, yes they have all but owned them for some time. Some positive signs last week with the Storm going on with the job with a solid win and finally covering a line let alone a long one. Traditionally they like this period post Origin and the run up to September, tapering and building their game.

Good contest. Think the Broncos will be on their toes for this, equally the Storm should also be up for the contest. Looks to be some footy and ball movement in the game, both sides have also been guilty of some lazy defensive periods through the last few weeks and or months. Sticking with the Storm to have a little more composure when it might matter but I’d not be surprised either way in what looks a good quality match up in front of 40,000 locals.

Given their recent records the 40.5 Total looks modest. Both sides are leaking an average of approx 20 something plus points a week, more importantly the Broncos most recently are 4/5 at Home Overs (and two weeks ago engaged in a 69 pt shoot out with the Panthers). The Storm are 11/17 yr to date Overs all games (equal most as Overs with the Warriors), they are 5 of last 6 Away all Over and 6 of last 9 H2H these two teams all Over.
